SleepMaker emerged as a bedding brand in Australia in the early part of the 20th century. Dunlop purchased SleepMaker in the late 1950s.

Irishman John Lawler set up a bedding business in Sydney called Lawler & Sons.
Lawler & Sons was purchased by American bedding company Simmons.
SleepMaker brand was created in Australia.
Late 1950s
Dunlop purchases the SleepMaker brand for its bedding group in Australia.
Pacific Dunlop purchases Simmons bedding business from Joyce Corporation.
Mid 1990s
SleepMaker mattresses are sold in New Zealand.
New Zealand company, The Comfort Group purchased Dunlop Foams and SleepMaker brands from Pacific Brands.
SleepMaker is awarded the Reader's Digest Trusted Brands Highly Commended for bedding.
